Reducing the costs, problems and environmental impact of trash
SmartTrash® Management Service lowers your waste and recycling costs by reducing the number of times your compactor(s) are emptied. Most organizations purchase their waste and recycling service is on a regular schedule but with ATM’s SmartTrash® System your pickups will only occur when it results in lower costs, lower problems and a smaller environmental impact.
Even if you are already purchasing these services on an “on-call” basis we can help you do even better with our powerful tools.
ATM’s SmartTrash® Service is composed of our internet accessible SmartTrash® SQL database management software, SmartTrash® compactor monitor technology and a trained “trash manager” that ensures results.
The robust scalable SmartTrash® Service allows us to efficiently overhaul your trash system. Our tools allows us to refine schedules or turn them into a “just-in-time” service thereby optimizing your pickups. Our SmartTrash® managers have ready access to the information needed to provide remote troubleshooting and interface with haulers & recyclers. Tracking your history assists you when we bid out contracts and perform ongoing auditing of bills. Additional benefits include scheduling and tracking equipment repairs and maintenance.
ATM's SmartTrash® Service optimizes waste and recycling pickups, making sure the your environmental impact, costs and problems are as low as possible.
Saving money with SmartTrash® is easy as 1,2,3 and 4:
- Send us you trash bills and sign the hauler letter of authorization (click link to download). If you don’t have your bills, we will collect information on your disposal costs for you.
- Using the collected information we will send you our Projected SmartTrash® Savings Analysis (sample).
- Sign the SmartTrash® Month to Month Contract (agreement).
- Enjoy the Savings (SmartTrash Saving Report).

Service.SmartTrash® Wireless Compactor Monitor
ATM’s SmartTrash® Monitor adds a “sensor with a brain” to your waste and recycling equipment. We make your compactor smart.

The Technology
American Trash Management's (ATM) SmartTrash® compactor monitor hardware is installed on or near the compactor's control panel. The SmartTrash® compactor monitor timestamps, records and analyzes all compactor activity: how hard and how often the compactor is working including time and length of operation and the correlated energy utilization, directional valve shifts, safety door switches and the pickup and return of the unit. This data is relayed via wireless packet data network several times per hour from anywhere in the world with a cellular phone service to ATM's Data Center. No dedicated phone or data lines are necessary.

The Service
Compactor data from SmartTrash® unit is relayed to ATM's Data Center and uploaded into our SmartTrash® SQL Database Management Software where it is processed and evaluated by ATM's complex algorithms for use by our trained technicians. All decision in our SmartTrash® Service are made by trained personnel. A person is required to interface between the compactor and hauler because no computer program can reliably and consistently project a compactor's optimal pickup time and then make sure the waste or recycling vendor does their job properly. With a complex system like trash handling, there are too many data anomalies, unforeseen events and outside factors such as holdays, sales, weather and trash hauler requirements that can make things go awry. ATM combines the latest in technology with the best computer in the world - the human brain - to make the final compactor pickup decision. Once a decision is made, ATM's personnel contact the hauler by phone and/or email or fax to schedule the trash service. This same group is available toll free at 800-48TRASH to troubleshoot problems, dispatch repair services, audit bills and shop for lower waste hauling rates.
The Result
Putting Advanced data telemetry systems in the hands of a trained technician enables SmartTrash® Service to reduce compactor pickups without causing "packouts", unnecessary pickups, expensive weekend or overtime pickups or other hauling problems. Add in all the additional services ATM's technicians provide, and the results is the most sophisticated moneysaving and hassle-reducing trash management service available today.
